Flicker Promotions Points Chase
Brothers Derrick Patton and Hunter Patton sweep the Moser Engineering Main Events at the Flicker Promotions 11th Annual Southern Big Buck Nationals at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana.
Moser Engineering Friday $20,000 Winner, Hunter Patton
Hunter started the weekend off with the Friday night Moser Engineering $20,000 win defeating Dylan Rallinson in the final round. Hunter said, "This has always been my favorite race. I've always done well at this race and I enjoy coming."
Moser Engineering & Rick's Powder Coating $25,000 Winner, Derrick Patton
Derrick rounded out the Patton Sweep on Saturday night in the Moser Engineering and Rick's Powder Coating $25,000 race defeating Glenn Dilday. In the Winner's Circle Derrick said, "This is an emotional win as this was the car my father drove to high school. This car has been in the family forever and we have all raced it. I wish they were here to celebrate this win with Hunter and I."
Hailing from Highlands, Texas outside of Houston, the Patton name is well known in the bracket racing world. Most racers and fans know or have heard of Hunter with his big money wins across the country, but Derrick is a very accomplished racer in his own right in the Southern bracket racing scene. Derrick qualified as a finalist in 2023 for the IHRA World Finals where he was in the running for the Ezell Race Car chassis. Bowing out a few rounds early, Patton said, "Man I really wanted that car." When we talked to Derrick at the beginning of the weekend he said, "I was heartbroken when I didn't win that car last year, but I'm going to win this one." When we talked to Hunter he said, "I originally was just planning to come to the Big Bucks race, but now I'm going to all 3. I'm going to win that dragster."
Environmental Oil Recovery Saturday No-Box Winner - Charlie Lockhart
Environmental Oil Recovery Friday No-Box Runner-Up - Kenneth Perkins
Charlie Lockhart, Kenneth Perkins, Benny Gossett, and JD McNeal are all No-Box contestants that have landed in the top 20 in the Flicker Promotions Point Series. With a new race format this year, No-Box ran in a separate class with the winner moving on to the Top Bulb field competing for the $20,000 purse. This allowed them to earn the same round money and points as the Top Bulb field, as well as the $2,000 Environmental Oil Recovery Bonus. Each day of competition, the No-Box winner made it to the split of the main event purse.
2024 Ezell Chassis to be awarded in the Flicker Promotions Points Series
The 2024 Flicker Promotions Points Series is starting off with a bang with brothers dueling for 1st place prize and No-Box racers in the running for top prizes to be awarded. It's going to be an interesting year watching the points chase and seeing who comes out on top. Will it be a Patton? Or will we have a points shift in Texas?
Next stop on the 2024 Flicker Promotions Points Series is the Spring Stampede at the Texas Motorplex, May 23rd-26th in Ennis, Texas. Full points list is available on the Flicker Promotions website.
